Staff Suite FAQ

Over the course of the year, we get tons of questions about the Staff suite, so we created this FAQ to help answer them:

Q: Where is the Staff Suite?
A: Room 693 in the Plaza Building of the Sheraton

Q: What hours is it open?
A: 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Overnight staff ask at Ops for access to the Suite after hours.

Q: Who can go in to Staff Suite?
A: Select Convention Guests, NDK Staff members, and their immediate family/significant others only. Sorry, no friends or distant relations.

Q: Can I leave my child in Staff Suite?
A: No, we cannot be responsible for the children of Staff Members. Staff suite is meant as an oasis for our staff from the hectic con floor. It is not intended as a babysitting service.

Q: What kind of snacks are up there?
A: There are fruit cups, granola bars, fruit snacks, fresh fruit, a variety of Japanese goodies, as well as nuts and chips. The type and availability is different from year to year depending on what is available to purchase.

Q: Are all meals served inside the Staff Suite?
A: Lunches are served in the Staff Suite. Breakfasts and Dinners are served in the Silver Room, located on the mezzanine level of the Tower Building (the space just above Dealer’s Room)

Q: When are Staff Suite meals served?
A: Breakfast is from 7:30-9:00 AM in the Silver Room
Lunch is from 11:00-1:00 in the Staff Suite (Plaza 693)
Dinner is from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the Silver Room

Q: If I haven’t paid, can I go into the Suite during lunch hours?
A: Unfortunately, no. During lunch we need to have just the people who purchased a meal plan.

Q: Are the meals free?
A: Unfortunately, no. NDK is a 501 C-4 nonprofit organization, and we just can’t afford to purchase meals for each staff member, especially at hotel prices.

Instead, we ask that each staff member who wants to eat meals in the Staff Suite purchase a meal plan. It helps offset the costs of the (very expensive) catering at the Sheraton. The cost of each Staff Suite meal plan barely covers the price of what just one meal costs for each staff member.

Q: How much are the meals?
A: There are two tiers you can choose from:
Tier 1 is $25.00, this tier includes all of the lunches, which consists of lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as anything else going on in Staff Suite.

Tier 2 is $60.00, This tier includes all of tier 1 as well as all of the meals served in the silver room catered by the hotel. This means you get Dinner on Friday, and Saturday. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and the lunches served in Staff Suite.

As always children 10 and under are half the adult price. ($12.50 for Tier 1 and $30.00 for Tier 2)

Q: How can I pay for Staff Suite?
A: You can register here:

Q: Can I pay for the Staff Suite at the con?
A: Yes. If you need to pay onsite at the convention, please send an email to with your name, staff position, and which tier you would like to purchase. This is VERY important as we need an accurate count of portions to order from the hotel.

Q: Do you offer Gluten Free meals or cater to Allergies?
A: While we strive to provide options for everyone, we cannot always guarantee the safety of a dish. If you have any questions about whether or not a dish is safe for you, please look up the menu on the website of the food vendor. We will be posting the menu on the RMAA Website and in the Facebook Staff Group page as soon as the outside caterings are set, so you will have time to look up the menu.

With regards to the food provided by the hotel, please be very careful. While they may label foods as gluten free or allergy friendly, there have been several instances in the past where the labels were incorrect. We have NO control over the hotels food ingredient lists. The hotel staff is always ready and willing to answer any questions you may have, and will do there best to help, but they may not always be accurate.

We do order gluten free pizza for Dead Dog, so if you have a gluten allergy please ask a Staff Suite member and they will help you get some pizza, but quantities are limited.

Q: I am allergic to anything that casts a shadow. Can you order something special for me?
A: Unfortunately no. We have limited resources, and simply cannot cater meals to every single person’s dietary requirements.
